Dialysis centre visit

I believe everyone knows health is important in life,though people still busy on work day and night.

Visited dialysis centre last sem.I learnt a lot from there.Kidney failure can't cure completely.Patient with this disease only can extend their life by undergoes dialysis.Yet,dialysis cannot guarantee how long they can live.Dialysis is the only treatment for them.Therefore,in order to survive their entire life,they need to spend with dialysis mechine for the rest of their life.They cannot go abroad because they need to undergo dialysis three times a week and each time is 3 hours. To achieve good dialysis outcome, dialysis patients need to closely and careful monitor their diet so as to help control the waste products and fluids accumulated between dialysis treatments.There are many food the patient cannot eat such as oranges, raisins, bananas, tomatoes,spinach and so on.They just can drink 500ml vof water each day.

 

The person in charge explained about dialysis centre and dialysis procedure.

Look at the swollen hand.

A blood vessel in the arm needs to be enlarged. Surgery is required for this and the surgery costs a lot. The enlarged vein makes the insertion of the catheters possible.We were asked to touch on the swollen part.It felt like a motor operate underneath the skin.We were shocked!

Can you imagine insert those tubes in your arm every week?Ouch!!that's pain!!People scare even get an injection include me.I was like "ouch" when i saw the needle inject into their arm.And patient told me it is no pain as they get used to it.They must be very careful to insert the tube as infection might happen.

We divided into two groups to interview patient.The patients that we interviewed were totally different.The patient that I interviewed was nice.The patient was quite optimistics on his disease.He complied to his medicine on time.
I was so surprise that he has to take 20 pills everyday.While the other patient that my friend interviewed didn't care about his illness.He didn't take his medicine on time.He even skipped his dialysis treatment and went abroad.That was so risky!Tsk tsk!
